Day after Christmas....we leave in 7 days.

Welcome back dear friends... We are trying to get ready for our trip. So much to think of.. what to pack, what to have for motel stays, what will Molly need, cloths to wash, bills to pay, friends to see, plants to water, stamps to buy, empty the frig, and what ever else. Will everything fit in the car? I guess it has to fit or stay home.

We will be staying at Terri & Bobs for a day. It always snows when we get there I hope not this year. Can't wait to see them. We will have another little Christmas there as they couldn't be here on Christmas Eve.

I just hope the snow don't follow us. We have over 40 inches here so far.

It is always hard for me to leave home but once we get going and a few tears shed I am better...

I hope everyone will send me emails and facebook messages. Or phone calls too.

I miss you already.
Bye for now.

Beautiful sunshine

Just pretty mountains. I think in New Mexico. The third picture is of the bumper to bumper traffic jam. Over 10 miles long. Caused by a rock slide. Mel took a side road and got ahead of it all. Click on the picture to enlarge it........................

......................
Mels Black Powder Gun. He made the case for it.

.........................
My grandson Aidan in his new baseball uniform

We sure have had some nice weather. I haven't been out to enjoy it much but nice having the sunshine come in the windows.

I am still a bit not feeling well. If I didn't cough I think I would do just fine. Coughing is worse than a hour workout at a gym. It uses up all my energy.

Enough about my cold..... I did get some cloths put away today. and the table cleaned off. See, I am making progress.

My car still won't start but I haven't wanted to go anyplace anyway. I have the pickup if I do. I can't reach the clutch petal very well so people might think I don't know how to stick shift.

I am posting a few more pictures. Just misc. photos

Thank you for spending time with me this winter. I probably won't be writing anymore for the summer. You can email me mmtrucking@frontiernet.net or face book me or even call on the phone... Better yet, stop in for coffee.

Good night and GOD BLESS....

Wishing I could be outside.

Hoover Dam..

.

...................

The new bridge over the dam is almost finished. Just one section to go. I hope we can go over it next year.

I am watching the Phoenix race on TV. My favorite, Mark Martin, is gaining spots but not up to the top 10. shoot!!

Mel and Tom is in Red Wing setting up Toms camper. He sure has a pretty site. Right along the water. Our motor home had to get repainted as it started to peal. It better get done fast so we can go to the river too.

I am still coughing but doing better. I actually got some work done today. Not much though. So good night and God Bless.

Laguna Mission

We visited this Pueblo Indian village and Mission in Laguna TX. It was so beautiful.
A few of the men sat in front to guard the church. It is a Catholic church. We spoke to a sweet 85 year old lady who said there was so much change after the Catholics took over the mission. A lot of the Indian traditions could no longer be used.

I wish you would click on the picture of the alter to enlarge it. It is so pretty. The canes in the front represent each Chief in the village. The wall hanging on the left is buffalo skin with a painting on it. It used to be put in the creek near by and this was to give good luck for the crops. After years of being in the water the edges started to rot away so they didn't do this anymore and hung it in the Mission.
The floor is just a dirt and straw floor but is very hard and now a cream color.
They requested that I not take any more pictures inside. I wish I could have. So much beauty. I also wish I would have asked more questions of the gentlemen who told us of the buffalo skin.

The 85 year old lady lived next door. She had pottery for sale. She showed us bowls that her grandmother had made. We had a nice visit. I did buy a small bulb, of course hand painted by one of the Indians there.

The picture of the field had a sign saying Sacred Area. It appeared to be a cemetary.

Most of the stone buildings were empty but a sign of the past.

It was so windy that day. Hard to hold the camera still.

I am feeling a bit better. Thanks to all who was checking on me.
Good night and God Bless

Seen the Doctor

Hello,
I found out that I only have a bad cold and very tired. The Dr. gave me meds for my cough and wants me to get lots of rest for the next couple of days. Kind of hard to do in this house. The Dr said not to worry about unpacking. I can get my undies out of the suitcase for a while. Kind of funny. I am just so happy it wasn't a hospital stay like last year.

I can only try to get some sleep without the cough. Sorry no pictures. I will write earlier tomorrow then maybe I can get them on.

Good night and God Bless

A few pictures

I finally got a few pictures on. I will post more tomorrow.

We went threw a little town called Shamrock, TX. This is the home town of our favorite radio announcer, Bill Mack. Also known as the Satellite cowboy on Satellite radio.

I think this is a Yucca plant but it was such a perfect round shape, I had to take a picture.

A dome house. Would have been fun to see the inside. It had a unique lawn spinner too. I want Mel to make me one.

I spotted this old log house. Another I wished to see inside.

This sign explains the trough in the next picture. This was in a little area with signs telling about the water tower. One of the tallest in TX

The yellow flowers were along all sides of the highway. So pretty.

Lake Mead. The lake by the Hoover Dam. I will show more pictures of new bridge over the dam tomorrow.

the last picture is of the bed in our new bedroom. Open for anyone who wants to come over.

I also want to show pictures of the Laguna Mission. An Indian village.

We have been so busy since we got home. Unloading the car. Getting groceries. The truck has been in the cities all winter. Near where our driver lived. When he got sick and couldn't drive anymore the truck just sat all winter. We finally brought it home today. Mel hopes to go back to work on Monday. Plus I haven't felt good so nothing much has been put away. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Good night all, God Bless

Days 90 - 92...We are HOME

Hi everyone.. We got home about 2 this afternoon. Sure was good to see Dexter with no snow on the ground.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend with Terri, Bob, and Amanda & Aidan. So much food. They even gave us their king bed. I bet they are sleeping well tonight having there own bed back. Easter service at St Johns was so nice. A special message and the music was awesome. Full orchestra. Plus the big pipe organ and choir.

I am still not feeling the best so again I won't be posting any pictures. If this cold don't get better soon I suppose I will have to check in with the Dr.

Our furnace isn't working so good thing it isn't that cold out. Trey checked it and is ordering a part. Should have it working tomorrow night.

Call or come over. I have to get groceries but otherwise I will be here.
I hope you keep on checking my blog. I will get pictures on hopefully tomorrow.

Good night and God Bless

Day 89...Getting close now.

Hi there, What time is it anyway? My watch says 11:30 and the computer says 9:45. I think my watch is right. But what is wrong with the computer? I don't have sound either. Does this mean another repair?

I still don't feel the best. I hope I don't have sinus infection. I feel like it.

I still have a problem with putting pictures on here so will only send this one of Mel and I at the Meteor place. I don't have any lights and Mel is sleeping so don't want to turn one on. When I get home I will put lots and lots of pictures on and tell a story for each.

We got to our motel about 6 and after checking in we went for supper. The motel gave a 10% discount at the truck stop so we had their fish special. We got their last order so I didn't even get the hush puppies. This is the second time we were the last order. Last night we ate at a fast food place in a service plaza. Not knowing they were closing as they took our order, served it and left. No refills, no condiments... the tables were in the main part of the plaza so we had lights but the restaurant was dark.

I better close and go to bed. Hope I can sleep as I cough a lot and blow my nose constantly. I won't be writing for a couple of days. We will be at Terri and Bob's enjoying Easter with family. I can't wait to see everyone.

May you all have a Blessed Easter. Be happy!! He is risen.

See you in Dexter on Monday.

Day87 & 88...Raining

Hi, sorry I didn't write last night. Just too tired. I got a cold and sure makes me want to sleep. I just wanted to let you know that we are going down the road and doing ok. We are about 50 miles north of OK City. It quit raining for now. I hope we don't catch up to it again. We plan our next motel to be in Lincoln Nebraska so I hope to fill you in. We have seen some neet stuff the last couple of days; See you soon...... God Bless

Day 86.. Very - VERY windy day.

Hello, I really wanted to print some pictures tonight. I even remembered to bring in my camera cord. BUT... I forgot the camera in the car. hmmmmm Just one senior moment after another. Oh well, there is still time. I will try to remember everything tomorrow night.

We are in Grants NM. It has been a good trip so far. This afternoon we stopped at a Meteor Crater near Flag Staff. ( www.meteorcrater.com ) Very interesting but it was so windy it about blew us off the observation deck. We looked mostly from the inside. There was a museum all about meteors. Did you know that the falling stars we see is only about the size of a pin head?? I will show you pictures soon.

I can't say enough about the high winds. Blew the sand and dust so hard at times you couldn't see the road for a second. When we got back to our car I opened the door and I thought it went off the hinges but it didn't.

I am going to have a hard time getting back to home time. We have been 2 hrs earlier.

I hope your all enjoying Easter Week. I love Lent and especially the week of Easter. I really miss the services.

Good night everyone.. God Bless.

Day 85...On our way.

Hi there,
After a later start than planned.. (nothing new) we had a great but busy day.

Where does time go. We went to bed last night thinking we had a dozen small things to put in the car, shut the water, elec, gas off, & empty the yuk tanks. We would be on the road by 8. Ha....... It was after 9.

We got to Parker to get our business done at the DMV...Finally getting the title name changed for out Park model. That is a long story. but after an hour and a half we were done. Well almost. Had to then go to the assessors office to leave them a copy of our title so they can charge us some taxes. We get that bill in Sept.

Almost lunch time by then. shoot....... we are suppose to be in Henderson NV by noon or 1:00. Not going to make that. So after calling the Youngs we had a quick lunch (taco's) then headed North.

Lots of beautiful sights along the way. We got to John and Betty's about 3:00. We had a nice visit and then a dinner buffet at the Fiesta casino. Back to the house and left again about 5:30.

We had planned to go threw Utah and maybe even visit the Mormon Tabernacle. But after checking the weather it looked like snow so we said no no no... no snow.
We went back a ways to Hwy 40. We drove over the awesome Hoover Dam again. The new bridge is almost done. We will have to go again next year so we can go on the really high bridge.

We got to our Motel about 8. Not to bad a room. I think I will try out that bed now. Good night and God Bless.

.....I have so many neat pictures of our day but I forgot to leave my cord out and is packed someplace in the trunk. Maybe can find it tomorrow. The spell check isn't working so sorry for the misspelled words.

Day 84...All packed up.

Hello, We sure had a busy day. We put everything from the deck inside. Tied down our bikes, washed the bedding, vacuumed, swept, cooked, cleaned out frig...both of them. Covered the windows. Filled the water jugs to set around.....this helps keep a little moisture in so the furniture and walls don't dry out in the summer heat.

At 5:00 we headed for the club house at a RV park in Hope, AZ. They served hamburgers and chips. and then a fabulous music jam. 30 some musicians. Our last one. Audrey and AG was with us. I am sure going to miss them.

Did we ever find a surprise when we got home. Molly was outside. Not sure how long she was out. Maybe the whole time were were gone.. 5 to 9:30. She could have run away looking for me. she could have found a Coyote, But she met our car with her happy tale waggen. Guest room door open.

In the morning we will be leaving about 8:00. Stopping in Parker to do some paper work about this place then on to Henderson, NV and lunch with John and Betty Young.

Then we will be on our way home. Well, to Des Moines anyway.

I will try to take the time to write on here while we travel but if I miss a day I will catch up the following day.

Thanks for stopping in. Take care and God Bless.

Same day 83

Just to let you know that something happened while writing my post. I lost half of what I typed. But I am to tired to rewrite so will figure it out tomorrow.
Good night and God Bless

Day 83... Molly is confused...

We are almost packed up. Just have the deck furniture to bring in and take the blue lights down. Also have to cover the windows.

Poor Molly. She didn't know what to do nor could she understand why everything was changing. I even got her blanket packed so she went to lay down under my desk and only found bare floor.

Audrey made us a wonderful supper. Pork Steak, a special potato recipe, corn, muffins, salad. And for desert she made apple crisp with ice cream and whip cream. It all was so good.

Wilsons took 2 of my flower baskets. They look really nice on the front of their motor home. Two of my flowers went to our neighbor who stays here all summer. The rest went to a couple who lives in Idaho and will be taking them with./

Day 82...Packing

These are the flowers I must give away. They are just getting pretty too.
I sure wish I could bring them home.

We got a lot done today. We got most everything picked up from outside. We won't clear the deck until Monday. Mel put on an extra cable to be sure the deck roof don't blow off this summer. I guess the wind can be pretty strong.
I got my cloths packed. Some go home in a sealed bag and some in a suitcase to use on the way. Plus Easter Sunday cloths for church in Des Moines. I will do Mel's cloths tomorrow.

How did we get it all here? I am running out of bags to put stuff in. The spare bed is still piled high.

Audrey and AG stopped in. We went to the Cactus Cafe for supper. Wilsons brought a pie for desert. thanks guys...

Our frig is getting pretty empty so I guess we will be eating out a lot.

Breakfast at the club house in the morning. Church at 10 at the Little Church in The Desert. Home again and more packing. See you at the races... Go MM..#5

Good night and God Bless
