Day 70...Gulf cart races

Good evening,

We had a fun morning at the gulf cart races.   The first half they had to go around the track, stop half way and get out of the cart and throw a football to the other person,   Get back in the cart, changing drivers and go the second half of the track.  the football had to be tossed into a tub just before the end.
They got points for the football catch and the ball in the tub plus time.   Points were taken away if they run over a milk jug full of water.
The second part was that the driver was blindfolded.   The co-driver had to give directions...right , left, hard right....stop! etc.   change drivers half way around.   the people on the sidelines had to be careful & get out of the way as sometimes the blind driver goes off track.    They forget where their left
 hand is... ;-)

Kind of dark but that is Mel and I in the cart watching.
Sue's first time ..they got 2nd place

Just starting the track

Football catch

I made spaghetti for lunch.   We both had a lazy afternoon.   It was 86 degrees.   After listening
(no picture on my TV) to my soap I took a nap.  Molly woke me up saying it was her lunch time.

For supper we had the left over spaghetti and a little steak.  Dishes and clean up.

Darts this evening but I should have stayed home.   We won 1 game of the 4 but it sure wasn't from any of my help.

Tomorrow I will get a blood test then on to Parker for groceries and maybe a new TV.

Good night everyone
God Bless

Day 69.. Races & jam

Hello,

It was pretty warm today.   Even run the AC.   87 degrees.    Nice though.

Church this morning then came home and had the rest of Mels steak for lunch.   Watched the NASCAR race with a disappointing ending.    Went up to the clubhouse for the last half of the music jam.   Not many there.  Still fun.   Cruised the park in our gulf cart for a while visiting along the way.

More campers left for home today.  More leaving tomorrow.   Just think, less than a month left before we head for home.   Plan to leave right after Easter.  Depends on the weather.

We went to the Buckaroos sandwich shop for supper.   Sue and Woody and another couple came when we were done but visited a few min.    Also visited with a couple of Jammers, (the keyboard player & her husband).  Then another Wagon West guy came and sat with us.   So we had lots of company while there.

Our neighbor is a rock collector and is learning how to cut and polish them.   Tonight she showed me what she has done with some of her finds.  So pretty.   I am going to join the rock club next year  and learn how to do that.   Will make some jewelry with the polished stones.

Going to watch the gulf cart races tomorrow.  So funny.

Hope all is well with you.

Good night hugs
God Bless

My cactus is getting so big.  Will have to cut off the arm that is laying over the walk
way.   Sure don't want to run into those stickers.

Day 68...Dance time

Greetings,
How is everyone tonight?   We are doing good.  We feel much better.

This morning I baked a choc cake to take to the dance .     This afternoon we just cruised the park in our gulf cart.  Visited with Verona a while.    Sue came over and we had a good visit on the deck.

I showered and then got ready to go out for supper.    Ate at Black Rock.   Mel had a prime rib steak and I had shrimp.   Mel couldn't eat all the stake so guess what we will have for lunch tomorrow.

Had a sock hop at the club house tonight.   Lots of good dancers here.  Fun to watch.

My little TV quit today for some reason.   I have sound but no picture.   When I first turn it on it will show for about 15 sec. then go black.   Any ideas what is wrong?

See you in church...

Good night hugs
God Bless

Day 67...Fish night

Good evening,

Another beautiful hot day.   I didn't check the thermometer.   Guessing 85.

Visited with friend Alice for a while.    Sue stopped over for a while... Otherwise the day was pretty quiet.

Mel and I went to Dos Amigo's fish supper.   Mmmm  soooo good.

I played darts tonight.   I got acceptable scores but my team lost all 4 games.   Still had fun.

For some reason the pictures I took won't send off my phone

I just received the picture below today. (thanks Louise)  This is my 3ed grade class in Pine Island.  Miss Steggy(?) is our teacher.  Most of us are still friends today.  I am sitting in the back right corner, by the door.

Good night hugs

Day 66..shopping

Hello everyone,   Thanks for stopping in.

It was such a nice day.   Not sure of the temp.   Maybe 80 and no wind.

Sue and I went to Quartzsite and shopped at the Gem world.   I got some new beads so I hope I make a bunch of jewelry this summer.  Although I have so many beads at home I had to get my yearly stock.

We got home about 5,  Just in time for supper.

I got the mail envelope from home, (Thanks Jen)  so went threw that while Mel fried some potatoes.

After supper and the dish washing we went to he Gospel Jam in Brenda.  So many missing already.  Some sick,  some gone home.   It was still a good jam.   Only 6 musicians but lots of singers.

Some of the Jammers from a few weeks ago.

Day 65...soup night

Hello everyone,

Another cool day.   I think it was about 75 this afternoon.  Going back to the 80's tomorrow.

We  are both feeling better.   Still some coughing but not to bad.  My leg is feeling good too.    I hope the clot is gone.   Can't tell.  Have an appointment when I get home.

Laundry day.   Still feel blessed to have my own washer and dryer.

It was soup night at the club house.   They made chili.  It was pretty good.

No wind today so got my flower baskets hung up again.   Watered all the plants.  They are looking so nice.

Going bead shopping tomorrow.

Good night and God Bless

Day 64...lunch with family

Good evening,

It cooled off a bit today.   With the wind we even wore light jackets.

So excited to get a message from nephew Shannon.   We met at Silly Al's pizza in Quartzsite for lunch.  Had such a nice visit.   Pizza was good too.

Did a bit of shopping and got more cough meds.    Stopped in at Wilsons and she just took a cake out of the oven.  We sure hit the right time.   Oh so good.   A rhubarb cake.  even whip cream.

For supper Priggies,  Wilsons, and us went to Dos Amigo's for taco's.   After that we went on to the Gospel jam at Desert Gold.

Was shocked to see Pepe...a accordion, piano player and singer.   He got his pony tale cut off.  First short hair cut in 13 years.  Looked good but just not the same .

We left at break time...after we had some cookies of course but home early.  Both of us coughing.

Take care...  God Bless

Day 63...Watches

Hello everyone,

I went to a watch making lesson this morning.   I love making them.

Pretty quiet the rest of the day.   I did cook a chicken and then made a  hot dish with it for supper.   Was pretty good.  I think I will add some veggies to it if I make it again.  Thanks for the recipe Verona.

We had another 80+ degree day.   The news said this was the 15th day of 80 and over.   Only going to be 79 tomorrow.   :-)   It got really windy this afternoon.   Had to move my flower baskets to the ground.   Much better tonight.

Full moon tonight.    So pretty.

Good night and God Bless

Hugs too

Day 62...Race day

Hello,

We didn't so much at all today.    Went to the clubhouse breakfast and stayed home the rest of the day.   Still coughing  didn't want to go anyplace.

Watched the NASCAR race.   Good to have  it back again.

I hope the snow is still melting there.

Good night and God Bless

Day 61...Craft show

Hi there,

Well,   My first time selling at a craft show went well.   I didn't sell a lot but some anyway.   There is so much jewelry available and most really fancy and expensive but still hard to compete.  I had fun though.    Verona helped me set up and kept me company.    The show started at 9 and had cinnamon rolls for sale.  Thanks Cliff for bring us one.  At noon they had hamburgers and chips.  Thanks Mel for bringing us one.     There was lots of door prizes and even a beautiful hand crochet bedspread was given.  Had to buy tickets though .  Packed all up at 1 and home again.

Wilsons stopped over for coffee.   Had a nice visit on the deck.

We went to Black Rock for supper.   Don't usually like that place but was pretty good tonight.  Mel had a steak and I had shrimp.

Karaoke at the clubhouse tonight.   I went for a little while.   We sure have some good singers in our park.

Nascar Daytona race tomorrow.   Can't wait.

I am still coughing a lot.   Feel pretty good between times.   Mel isn't the best yet.    So congested.
Trying to talk him in seeing the Dr on Monday but I don't think I am getting it to him.  No good dr's close by here.  Had a good reference to one in Salome so maybe will go there. about 20 miles away.

Good night and God Bless

Day 60...Friday Fish

Good Evening,

Been a long day.

This morning Mel and 2 other guys went to a Black Powder show but was disappointed when they got there.   Wasn't much happening.   They came home after only a couple of hrs.

I read emails and Face Book and cleaned up the kitchen while I was on my own.

Went to Quartzsite's Stage Coach restaurant for the Park ladies luncheon.   Was a fun time.   I had their fish special and it sure was good.   32 of us attended.

For supper we joined Verona and Cliff for fish supper at Dos Amigo's.   I do like that fish.

We got gas at $1.69 then went home.

Terri called so talked to her on the way home watching the sunset.

I was going to play Darts tonight but decided not to.   Didn't want to be coughing in the middle of a game.

Sue and Woodie got some nice company today.   Their daughters came as a surprise for Woodies birthday.  (All from Rochester)

Tomorrow I will be selling the jewelry I made at the craft show in our Clubhouse.   I am pretty nervous.  I know I can't compete with some of the jewelry they make out here but hopefully mine is just enough different to catch their eye.  I have never done a show before so at least it should be a learning experience.

Goodnight and God Bless
Hugs

Ladies luncheon.     I didn't get the other 2 sides of the tables.   32 of us.
Just a few giggles going on.

Day 59...Bingo

Hello,

Was up a lot again last night.  Sick of this cough.    Mel was better now if he can get some good sleep.

We went to the park meeting and yes,  it has been sold.   The new owners were there and seemed nice.  They are from Maryland.   They claim nothing will change so this is mostly good.   There are a number of things that need to be fixed or cleaned up so hope that gets done.  They take over the 1st of April so won't see much of them until next year.

We went to the produce stand down the street and got a few things.  Strawberries, cukes, carrots...

Had a little rest this afternoon.  Played bingo this evening.   Didn't win of course...

I guess it rained a minute this morning.   I missed it.    Someone in the park took an awesome picture of the rainbow.    Then the sunset this evening.

I had some pansies growing in the wheelbarrow.  They were doing so well until this morning.   Rabbits must have somehow got in there and ate them.  Gotta keep plants high or they get them.  Can't figure out how they could jump in a wheelbarrow.

Good night, God Bless

Day 58...Free meal

Hello,   Thanks for stopping in.

It was a hot one again today.   I think it was 88 degrees.  We even turned on the AC.
Going to get cooler for a few days now.   Less than 80 anyway.

We are still fighting this cold.   If I didn't cough I wouldn't feel to bad.   Mel is so congested and has such a hard time sleeping.   Called my Dr at home and got advice on some cough medicine.   Hope it helps.

Made a quick trip to Quartzsite to get the meds and had some supper while there.

MASA,  (Medical Air Service Association)  gives us a free lunch every year but have to listen to their hour sales pitch.  Sounds like a good deal but we have Air Med insurance and happy with that.   Just hope we never have to use it.  The lunch was no big deal.   Just a fancy goulash and a piece of garlic bread.  With a sherbet for desert.   Wasn't really worth having to listen to him talk again.  Oh well, it was free.

There is going to be a park meeting tomorrow afternoon.   Talk is that Wagon West has been sold.  Will see tomorrow.

Twin races at Daytona tomorrow night.  Guess we will miss the Brenda Jam.

Take care & God Bless
Hugs

PS..   So many sick around here.   Sending prayers for everyone to get better.

Day 57...Taco's n Jam

Hello,

I was just signing the end of my note and it disappeared.  I must have hit a wrong button..

We still aren't all that well.   Better but still coughing like crazy.   Congestion don't want to get better.   Mel isn't coughing as much but has a hard time sleeping.  So many here that are having the same problem.

We did find our way to Taco Tuesday at Don Amigo's.   Then on to the Gospel Jam at Desert Gold park.    The jam was so good.   Even a Steel guitar tonight.  Love that sound.    Harmony was awesome.     We had some cookies and coffee at break time.  Pepe was up next and sang "Lets go Down To The River",  a favorite of everyone...  We left after that as I started to cough again.

It was 80 something again.   Still haven't turned on the AC.

Sounds warmer at home too.   Hope so anyway.

Hugs to all,
God Bless.

Day 56...got out of house

Hello my friends,

We finally felt well enough to leave the house.   We went to Blythe CA.   Shopped a bit at KMart, had lunch at Popeyes,  got a few groceries at Albertsons.  But we were sure tired by the time we got home.

We stopped in at our friends  the Wilsons, but they weren't feeling well either.   So didn't even go in.  I hope Audrey gets well real soon.

I made a big  kettle of soup yesterday so had more of that for supper.    While in Quartzsite we just had to stop at the donut shop...   we just had too.   It just pulled the car right in.  So we had that for desert.

I had already had a couple bites before I thought of a picture..  ;-)

Good night and God Bless

Day 54-55...Feeling better

Hello all...HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Been another lazy day and still coughing a lot but doing much better.   Both Mel and I are just tired.  We are getting house-itis though. Been over a week of this stuff.

Missed the Valentines dance last night but could hear the band  from the deck.

Watched the first Daytona Nascar race last night too.  It was kind of a wreckem rodeo.  My driver as well as a lot of others were out of the race quickly.

I hope to go to Blythe tomorrow just to get out of the house.

Mel gave me a beautiful Valentine.  a BIG one.   About 2 1/2 ft high.

Day 53... Still here

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping in however I don't have much to say.

Our colds are still keeping us down.     We did venture out for a fish supper tonight but came right back home and got in my jammys.

I think we will be making a another trip to Phoenix soon for a new battery for my computer.  It won't charge anymore and runs so slow.  Should have got one when Mel got his.

Tomorrow is the Valentines Dance at the club house with a live band.   I am hoping I feel like going for a short time anyway.

Still 80 degrees at 7:50 pm.   Nice out.

Good night hugs,  God Bless

Day 52...Still coughing

Greetings,

It was 82 here today.   Sooo nice.

Mel and I still aren't feeling the best with this cold but gaining on it.   Just want to enjoy the sun.
Our deck is all shade so haven't started my winter tan yet.

Sorry I don't have much to write about.   Maybe another picture.

Good night, God Bless

Day 51...80 degrees

Hello all,

We are finally getting some warm weather.   Suppose to be in the high 70's to low 80s the rest of the week.

Mel and I are still fighting this cold so don't get much farther than the deck.

Verona sent over some cinnamon rolls and some bars on Monday and our neighbor, Dianna, sent over some blueberry muffins yesterday.  Sure was good.

There was a pot luck at the clubhouse today but thought we better stay away from people for a while.

Not much else to say so will post some pictures.

This is the Angel of the Desert.  She stands high on a mountain in Montana.
When it is snowing you can't see her and the truckers know not to go
over the pass.

Day 50...Can you believe it?

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't written sooner.   Time does fly.

We have been pretty quiet with only going to clubhouse activities and eating out.
We did go to Parker to get an oil change and to Phoenix to get a new battery for Mels computer and my phone fixed.   Got groceries in Blythe a few times.   Got my blood test every 2 weeks.
So really not much excitement.

Right now both Mel and I have colds and not feeling the best.   I hope that passes quickly..   Might even have to give up going to Taco Tuesday at Dos Amigo's.

It has been unusually cold & windy here.   Even had frost a few nights.  This week is the warmest with it being in the high 70's.

Molly has a friend next door.   They play so cute but Nicky being just a puppy and Molly and old lady it doesn't last long.   Molly has to sit or lay and catch her breath,.

I have been to 3 Elvis shows.  Michael Culipher.   He was really good,   His last show was Gospel.
He is from OK but works in Memphis across from Graceland.

I hope you got threw the storms there.   Stay safe and stay warm.

More tomorrow
Hugs and God Bless.
