Day 62...Busy weekend

Aren't we cute?

I am back... hello everyone.

We had a busy fun weekend. We took a ride on a desert road and did some target practice. So pretty out there. Never see any wild life though. Maybe that's a good thing. A friend of ours road his ATV on a big mountain and seen several big horn sheep. We never even see a lizard.

On Saturday we went to Blythe (first town going into California). Did a bit of shopping and looked at some carpet for the livingroom. We had supper at the Sizzler.
We always forget that it is an hour earlier there so we had plenty of time before we went to the races at the fair ground. It is a quarter mile blacktop track.

The Bandolaro's are the small ones. Almost like a go-cart with a cab on it but they really go. It is just kids age 8 and up driving. The Legends are small too and go faster. Driven by older ones.

Sunday was the best with our trip to Phoenix and going to the Nascar Sprint Cup race.
We met Shannon (Mel's nephew) at a place close to the track. We had to walk quit a ways to get to the tram and that took us to the entrance. Then we walked some more. Our seats were way to the left of the start finish line. Then climbed a lot of stairs to get to our seats. The trailers with the stuff to buy wasn't in front of the track like other tracks so I didn't get to shop. We ate a foot long hot dog and then went to our seats. My favorite, Mark Martin was on the pole. I was so excited. He didn't win but did a good job. He was in the top 10 most of the race. second for a time. But finished 9th. It would have to be the hottest day as the temp rose to 86 degrees and we got a pretty good sunburn. We had that long walk again to get back to our car. Mel managed to get out of the parking lot pretty fast but they had traffic going only in one direction...of course the opposite direction we wanted to go. With the help of Shannon's GPS on his phone we found our way to the Golden Coral for supper. Home again by 9:45.

Our neighbor, Bev, took care of Molly and she claimed it went well. I hope it really did.

Today we had company twice. This afternoon we were happily surprised with a short visit from my sister in law Nancy from Park Rapids and my nephew Dennis and his wife Betty from Zumbrota. They flew in and will spend time in Yuma with Betty's family.

So that's our weekend... I am still stiff from all the walking and stair climbing but it was worth it.

So good night hugs, and Gods Blessings
