Day 86.. Very - VERY windy day.

Hello, I really wanted to print some pictures tonight. I even remembered to bring in my camera cord. BUT... I forgot the camera in the car. hmmmmm Just one senior moment after another. Oh well, there is still time. I will try to remember everything tomorrow night.

We are in Grants NM. It has been a good trip so far. This afternoon we stopped at a Meteor Crater near Flag Staff. ( www.meteorcrater.com ) Very interesting but it was so windy it about blew us off the observation deck. We looked mostly from the inside. There was a museum all about meteors. Did you know that the falling stars we see is only about the size of a pin head?? I will show you pictures soon.

I can't say enough about the high winds. Blew the sand and dust so hard at times you couldn't see the road for a second. When we got back to our car I opened the door and I thought it went off the hinges but it didn't.

I am going to have a hard time getting back to home time. We have been 2 hrs earlier.

I hope your all enjoying Easter Week. I love Lent and especially the week of Easter. I really miss the services.

Good night everyone.. God Bless.

Day 85...On our way.

Hi there,
After a later start than planned.. (nothing new) we had a great but busy day.

Where does time go. We went to bed last night thinking we had a dozen small things to put in the car, shut the water, elec, gas off, & empty the yuk tanks. We would be on the road by 8. Ha....... It was after 9.

We got to Parker to get our business done at the DMV...Finally getting the title name changed for out Park model. That is a long story. but after an hour and a half we were done. Well almost. Had to then go to the assessors office to leave them a copy of our title so they can charge us some taxes. We get that bill in Sept.

Almost lunch time by then. shoot....... we are suppose to be in Henderson NV by noon or 1:00. Not going to make that. So after calling the Youngs we had a quick lunch (taco's) then headed North.

Lots of beautiful sights along the way. We got to John and Betty's about 3:00. We had a nice visit and then a dinner buffet at the Fiesta casino. Back to the house and left again about 5:30.

We had planned to go threw Utah and maybe even visit the Mormon Tabernacle. But after checking the weather it looked like snow so we said no no no... no snow.
We went back a ways to Hwy 40. We drove over the awesome Hoover Dam again. The new bridge is almost done. We will have to go again next year so we can go on the really high bridge.

We got to our Motel about 8. Not to bad a room. I think I will try out that bed now. Good night and God Bless.

.....I have so many neat pictures of our day but I forgot to leave my cord out and is packed someplace in the trunk. Maybe can find it tomorrow. The spell check isn't working so sorry for the misspelled words.

Day 84...All packed up.

Hello, We sure had a busy day. We put everything from the deck inside. Tied down our bikes, washed the bedding, vacuumed, swept, cooked, cleaned out frig...both of them. Covered the windows. Filled the water jugs to set around.....this helps keep a little moisture in so the furniture and walls don't dry out in the summer heat.

At 5:00 we headed for the club house at a RV park in Hope, AZ. They served hamburgers and chips. and then a fabulous music jam. 30 some musicians. Our last one. Audrey and AG was with us. I am sure going to miss them.

Did we ever find a surprise when we got home. Molly was outside. Not sure how long she was out. Maybe the whole time were were gone.. 5 to 9:30. She could have run away looking for me. she could have found a Coyote, But she met our car with her happy tale waggen. Guest room door open.

In the morning we will be leaving about 8:00. Stopping in Parker to do some paper work about this place then on to Henderson, NV and lunch with John and Betty Young.

Then we will be on our way home. Well, to Des Moines anyway.

I will try to take the time to write on here while we travel but if I miss a day I will catch up the following day.

Thanks for stopping in. Take care and God Bless.

Same day 83

Just to let you know that something happened while writing my post. I lost half of what I typed. But I am to tired to rewrite so will figure it out tomorrow.
Good night and God Bless

Day 83... Molly is confused...

We are almost packed up. Just have the deck furniture to bring in and take the blue lights down. Also have to cover the windows.

Poor Molly. She didn't know what to do nor could she understand why everything was changing. I even got her blanket packed so she went to lay down under my desk and only found bare floor.

Audrey made us a wonderful supper. Pork Steak, a special potato recipe, corn, muffins, salad. And for desert she made apple crisp with ice cream and whip cream. It all was so good.

Wilsons took 2 of my flower baskets. They look really nice on the front of their motor home. Two of my flowers went to our neighbor who stays here all summer. The rest went to a couple who lives in Idaho and will be taking them with./

Day 82...Packing

These are the flowers I must give away. They are just getting pretty too.
I sure wish I could bring them home.

We got a lot done today. We got most everything picked up from outside. We won't clear the deck until Monday. Mel put on an extra cable to be sure the deck roof don't blow off this summer. I guess the wind can be pretty strong.
I got my cloths packed. Some go home in a sealed bag and some in a suitcase to use on the way. Plus Easter Sunday cloths for church in Des Moines. I will do Mel's cloths tomorrow.

How did we get it all here? I am running out of bags to put stuff in. The spare bed is still piled high.

Audrey and AG stopped in. We went to the Cactus Cafe for supper. Wilsons brought a pie for desert. thanks guys...

Our frig is getting pretty empty so I guess we will be eating out a lot.

Breakfast at the club house in the morning. Church at 10 at the Little Church in The Desert. Home again and more packing. See you at the races... Go MM..#5

Good night and God Bless

Day 81...No dishes to do!

Pictures......... The little yellow and orange daisys are just wild flowers in our park. So pretty in a bunch like this but also so cute when there is just one here and there.
We have them in our lot but not blooming yet. they are in the shade......We joined AG and Audrey at a soup lumch at their park in Salome. There was 6 kinds to pick any or all. MMMMmmmm so good........I hope you can spot the old gold mine in the hill not far from us. I wonder how they got to it without having a 4 wheeler........For supper we went to the Victory Lane cafe in Hope, AZ with the Wilsons and had all the fish we could eat. The cafe was decorated with old Nascar pictures and car models. But I told them they needed a #5. Maybe I will have to bring them a 'good' pictue.

It was cool and windy today. Only about 72 or so. I hope tomorrow is better.

We have to start packing tomorrow. Also covering windows and giving up my flowers. Several neighbors have asked for them. I wish I could bring them all home.

I guess Mel is going to bed already. It does sound like a good idea. So good night and God Bless........ maybe I better play a couple of games first. :-)

Day 80...Trip to Blythe

******************************************************

The pictures are of some of the things we seen going to Blythe. Blythe, CA is about 40 miles from Wagon West. I didn't think of pictures until we were almost there. The yellow is Brittle Bush & lines both sides of the road. There is a lot of field work happening. Mostly alfalfa is grown. It is bailed once a month. The hill is called Dome Rock & the red Bougainvillea(not sure of spelling) is just one of the many in full bloom. I seen a Yucca in bloom also but went by it to fast.

We made the trip to get our neighbor a birthday gift. When I took it to her she said her Birthday wasn't until the 27th of April...oops. Oh well, I wanted to give her something anyway as we won't be here.

We ate supper on the deck tonight. It is soooo nice out. Then we went to the final Gospel Jam in Brenda Park. I am going to miss these jams...

Now Molly and I think it is our bed time. Good night and God Bless

Day 79...Golly, thats a long time!!

Hi everyone, I hope you had a good day.

We didn't do much today. I finished oiling the walls and cabinets. Mel put some of that foamy insulation in any open space between the addition and house. We don't have any wall board yet remember so there was some spots where you could see ground. Maybe even a little lizard could have got threw. All good now.

Wilsons joined us at the Club house supper. We had Tuna mac hot dish and fresh made bread. It was really good.

Tonight Mel played pool and I just hung out at home.

Maybe early bedtime tonight. Good night and God Bless

Day 78...Desert sight seeing

......................

Hello everyone, We took a side road out in the desert. Was really fun, or should I say interesting. We went as far as the rocky road let the Lincoln travel. It is mostly used by ATV's. We were looking for some wild life but only seen a lizard. By the time I got my camera out and climbed out of the car it had run into its hole. I just wish the cacti was in bloom. Just to early for most.

It was kind of cool this morning so didn't do much. Then we decided to go to Kathy's outdoor restaurant for some taco's, get a loaf of bread from the grocery store, and go back home. But Mel decided to take a detour.

Wilsons stopped over. We were just ready to have supper but they had already ate so they enjoyed our deck while we ate.

After supper we went to Desert Gold and enjoyed another Gospel Jam. Only 2 left before we go home.

By the way, the cactus in our park had another flower today. (picture) The others are already drying up. One lady here said it is called a Giant Brazilian. The black rocks pictured are remnents of a valcano that once happened here. The tall thin branched cactus is an Ocotillo (pernounced ocoteao) Right Betty? The shorter picky cactus is a Teddy Bear Cholla. The yellow is called Brittle Bush. Twin Peaks are in one photo. And of course the large cacti are the Saguaro.

I hope all is well every where. Good Night and God Bless

Day 77...I feel good again.

Beautiful cactus in our park. I can see it from our deck. I wish I new the name of it.

Another great day in Brenda. 85 degrees. Only one week left to enjoy it. We plan to leave next Tuesday. Lots to do this next week to summerize this place. Covering windows, oiling cabinets and walls, packing cloths, eating up the food, etc.

I got the kitchen & bathroom cupboards oiled today. Washed a load of cloths (so thankful for my washer and dryer) sat in the sun with my book. Mel went for a bike ride. Busy day, eh?

I don't know what hit me yesterday but I feel good today. Thanks for asking.

AG and Audrey moved to a RV Park closer to us so we went to see them. Then we all went to the Kofa cafe for supper. Audrey had a lemon pie ready for us when we got back to their place. Thanks Audrey. It was so good.

Tonight was my TV night. Dancing with the Stars... half of it, and then "24".

No plans yet for tomorrow. Probably going to the music jam in Desert Gold. We only have 3 left to see before we go.

Mel is calling with ice cream. Black Cherry. So good night and God Bless

Sunday, March 21, 2010

Day 76...Never left the house

Howdy... it hasn't been a good day. I haven't felt good. Nothing serious just enough to keep me home. No breakfast at the club house, no church, no music jam...... boo hoo!! I do feel better tonight. Just a little tummy ache yet

I watched the race but my driver didn't have luck so I lost interest. Johnson won again.

Mel got a Sunday paper. We read that, napped, and watched TV. Thats about it.

So good bye until tomorrow. God Bless

Day 75...Molly is a star!

Molly's ribbons. notice her medal around her neck........../

Mel playing darts..............

Sunset over Wagon West Park.......

What a fun morning. Molly was in a dog competition. They had to go threw a timed coarse of jumping over things, going threw a tunnel and running up a ramp and down, going zig zag past milk cartons. They played Simon Says. They played hide and seek..being timed for how fast they go to their masters who is hiding under a blanket. They did tricks. Molly danced and said please. But others had much more trick training. Molly will follow me anyplace so it was pretty easy to lead her around the coarse. We just weren't fast enough to get first. But she did so well being she had never done anything like that before. She got 2 second place, 1 third, and 1 forth place ribbons. She had second most ribbons so she came in second over all. I will have to work with her on the course and we will do better next year. It was fun. When we got home she got a drink of water and plopped.

We cleaned up the country ribs for lunch. It was much better today. I cut it up is small pieces before I heated it again. Finally was tender.

The afternoon was pretty quiet. Mel took a nap. I washed the kitchen rug and then sat in the sun and read.

We went out to eat at the Cactus Cafe. Nothing to brag about. It was ok. I had a BLT and Mel had a burger. Back to our Park Club house for Darts.

Had a good time. My team won all 4 games. We GOT TO get a dart board. So fun!!

Bed time as soon as CSI is over. See you in Church. God Bless.

Day 74...tough meat

Hello, Windy and about 75 today.

We met Wilsons for lunch in Quartzsite. Also checked out a rummage sale but nothing there. Mel ALMOST bought a VW bug... So glad he didn't. Mel is playing pool tonight. That's about our day.

I had the country ribs cooking in the crock pot all day and we had them for supper. I sure bought wrong meat that time. All that cookin and they were still tough. We got filled up but it wasn't enjoyable.

Many cactus are really full of buds. I hope some of them open before we leave.
The picture is of a cactus at the lot where the rummage sale was. The yellow flowers line both sides of the road on I-10. The cactus that bloomed last week, I had the picture on here, has about 10 big buds ready to open in a day or two. This will be awesome.

Tomorrow morning Molly gets to go to a doggie party. Should be interesting!!!! Stay tuned....... Good night and God Bless

Day 73...Pizza

Hello,... It was actually hot today. (slap my face!) I was never going to say that.
But oh so nice.

Just a quiet morning. I forgot about a park wide rummage sale in Brenda park. Oh well, I sure didn't need anything. Started a crock pot meal for supper and then went to a jewelry class.

The bracelet pattern was really difficult today so didn't get very far with it. I only finished about 2 inches. The teacher will be gone the next two weeks so I wouldn't have any place to go for help. The next best thing was that she finish it for me. A couple of the others in class requested that too.

Our friends, AG and Audrey Wilson was going for Pizza in Quartzsite so I turned off the crock pot and we met them. The country beef ribs weren't done anyway. Now I have lunch ready for tomorrow.

Gospel Jam at Brenda Park this evening. I thought with so many leaving and going home there wouldn't be many there. But, the music was even more awesome than usual.
Still had about 25 musicians and maybe 30 singers. And as always the lunch was fantastic too.

It is a bit windy tonight but our bed is so comfortable I won't even notice.
So good night all and God Bless

Day 72...Happy St Patty's Day

Hi there, Come on in.

Another beautiful day in Brenda. Got to 85 today.

We finished painting today. I am so glad that job is done. Looks pretty good...if you don't get to close. The picture shows how we trimmed the front window.
The side and back is the same light brown...or beige with a dark brown trim board at the top.

This afternoon I caught up with the laundry and enjoyed the sunshine.

For supper Corned Beef and Cabbage was served at the club house. There was also ham, carrots, potatoes, and ice cream. All so good. A dance with a good band was held after supper. Of course it was over by 9:30. Don't want to keep us old folk up to late.

Molly is still pretty white after her bath she had last Monday. She didn't like the flash of the camera and wouldn't look at me for her picture.

So many are leaving for home. Two more neighbors go tomorrow. Soon it will be our turn. :-)

Take care and God Bless.

Day 71...Bulls eyes!

Hello everyone, Hope your days weather was as good as here.

We painted most of the day. We got the front and the long side done. Tomorrow will do the back and then all done. Looks pretty nice. I was to tired to cook so we went to Kathy's outdoor restaurant. We had chicken.

This evening I played darts again. I even got 2 bulls eyes. It is so fun. We won 2 games and lost 2 games. Mel played pool instead of darts. Not sure how many players were at the pool games but he came in 4th. Now we have to buy a dart board, pool que, and learn how to play golf before next winter. :-) (hint hint for Christmas or birthdays)

Only 2 weeks left before we head for Des Moines. We will be at Terri's for Easter then home.

I think it is bedtime. Good night and God Bless

Monday, March 15, 2010

Day 70...Oh what a day!

Beautiful day in Brenda. I got my 80 degree day. We didn't so much other than enjoy the sunshine. I sat in my sun chair and read until Molly decided to visit a doggie in front of the house. We did tape the walls outside so we are ready to paint tomorrow.

We took Molly to get a bath at a groomer who lives 2 rows behind us. While she had the water running I took Molly's harness off. But Molly said, "oh no... no bath for me" and she ran for home. I followed her but she wouldn't stop. she went in the house and hid under the bed. The little stinker... She finally came out and I put her harness back on her and back to the groomer we went. Now she looks so pretty again.

This evening Mel went to the club house and played darts while I watched my show, "24".

Another warning on TV for travelers to stay out of Mexico. I sure wouldn't go!

I think it is time for popcorn... come on over.

Good night and God Bless.

Day 69...another chily day

How you doing with the time change? Seems funny that home is 2 hours ahead of us.

We had another cold windy day. The sun was shinning thought so that helped. Just not much. It is suppose to get to the 80's this week. I am not holding my breath!!

We slept in so didn't get to breakfast at the club house. In fact we barely made it to church on time. But we got there about 3 min. early.

After church we joined some of the members for lunch at the Cactus cafe. Then back to the park for the music jam.

I have a big decision to make next Sunday. Do I watch the Bristol race (my favorite) or go to the last music jam for the season????? h-m-m-m-m-m-mmmmmm
I wonder!!

We got bad news twice today. A friend of Mel's passed away. Aiden Rud from Byron and Mel's half brother was taken to the hospital in Texas after a stroke. Kenny will be flown home soon to St Marys. Prayers to both families.

I think it will be an early bed time tonight. It was so late last night...after 2am. So good night and God Bless.

Day 68...Races in Blythe

....................
The first 4 pictures are of the Bandoleros and the last two are the Legend cars.
*********************************************************

Howdy! Finally, a nice day.

We just enjoyed the morning at home. I made some earrings that match the bracelet I made before. Read some emails and just sat around.

This afternoon we went to a couple of rummage sales. People sure want a lot of money for their junk!! I did buy and Indian peace pipe. Just something different to hang on the wall of our new bedroom.

We picked up AG and Audrey Wilson at their RV in Ehrenberg(?)and had supper at the Sizzler in Blythe. Then on to the races.

It is a quarter mile blacktop track. By the time the races started the wind started to blow and it got so cold. But the race was fun. The little Bandoleros and Legend cars raced. The Bandoleros are driven by kids. The winner of the first heat was only 9 years old. They range in age from 9 to 15 or so. The Legend cars are mostly in the 15 or 16 age range. They really go fast. There was a 15 year old girl diving a stock car. After the last Legend car heat we left. Just to cold to sit there. Where are the hot flashes when you need one???? ha!

It was close to midnight before we got home. It was a very fun evening.

Did you remember to change your clocks? AZ doesn't have savings time so now we are 2 hours earlier than home.

Good night and God Bless
